Last post by droqen - Jul 08, 2025, 06:55 AMdear droqen of yesterday:
Why have you been so reserved with your energy? It isn't yours to conserve or lose, anyway: all energy comes from The Sun, and though it is not infinite, it is cosmic in scale. The Sun always rises; it is unselective with where its rays shine;
but -- droqen of yesterday, is this the way you speak to yourself? You, you, you...

Last post by droqen - Jul 08, 2025, 06:49 AMThe Sun represents additive and multiplicative forces of light and colour.
The Sun dominates the sky, inspires and powers every smaller light we have ever created, gives birth to lush greenery and motion and action.
The Sun.

Last post by droqen - Jul 08, 2025, 06:46 AMlately, i've been on a real subtractive kick. what have i done? what are the consequences of my actions? is this the right thing to do?
yesterday, i went to the beach with a couple friends and a bunch more friends-of-friends. today, i received some thoughts that make me think of the magnitude of love and of life; life finds a way.
what is the sun? the source of energy, it shines from above, un-selective.
The Sun really is pure life-giving energy.

Last post by droqen - Jul 06, 2025, 03:45 PMplus, at least two of the poems in The End of Gameplay are not only about the sun, but specifically about killing or destroying the sun. what's up with that?

I can't face it, you,
my mercury drives.

my gaze and the sun's reflection, coincident
splashed from rooftop to street, i imagine
not removed by storeys
but distanceless, gives me a vertigo of oneness
as they have. 𝄐

I'D LIKE TO HIDE
WOULDDN'T IT BE SWELL LIKE WAVES DO
LIKE PHYSICS AND WATER_TENSION AND THE MOON
AND THE SUN, AND THE SUN, AND THE SUN, AND THE SUN, AND THE SUN
YOU CAN'T LOOK AT ME DIRECTLY I'm BRIGHT TOO
EASY TO BE HONEST
WHEN YOUR OUTLINE BLINDS
AND GIVING DIRECT LOOKS
KILLS.

who said the sun rises without noticing
the city street flowers from church to sunrise
i know godless the heavens
whose blue is a trick made for mortal eyes are black and could not be mistaken for derelict
still alien tendencies
deliver me stalking through long shadows cast long ago and wondering
from software written to answer my hard whys easily
i have you to blame for always doing things in the particular way
i and everyone know it ought not be done
and the sun says you follow
my movements watch my brilliance
and you gaseous being being
what you are you are
only an object and only a god and only minutes in heaven away
I can't face it, you,
my mercury drives.

key to droqen's tarot (in progress) / Re: card: XIX. The Sun
Last post by droqen - Jul 06, 2025, 03:42 PMthe sun. i write about the sun a lot in my poems... like a lot.
the sun's traditional meaning has to do with, in my understanding, inspiration/motivation, that is, of a human action or mindset inspiring another person, and truth/illumination. i think about the first one often: what does it mean to be the sun? my sun has three figures to indicate a sort of relationship, not so much a journey, but we are all these three at different moments. are we on the ground, receiving as via photosynthesis? are we in the sky, flying? are we in the sun, or the sun itself?
i should share a few of my sun poems...

key to droqen's tarot (in progress) / meta: "Key to the Tarot"
Last post by droqen - Jul 06, 2025, 03:37 PMin each of these threads i'll post a card (i'm also experimenting with various forms of visual deformation at the same time) and focus on capturing some thoughts that i have about the card, my design of it, and how to use it in a reading. i'm particularly inspired, or maybe amused, by Strength's page in "The Pictorial Key to the Tarot" (1910), because i've always wondered what was up with Strength and Justice having mixed-up numbers... well, here the book illuminates why it's such a mystery. and so uselessly! "For reasons which satisfy myself, this card has been interchanged with that of justice, which is usually numbered eight. As the variation carries nothing with it which will signify to the reader, there is no cause for explanation." (beneath the header, "VIII // Strength, or Fortitude")
it is this spirit, above all, which i hope to capture in my small book on my cards.

XIX. The Sun
My Sun depicts a journey, or a relationship, between the earth-bound figure and the one in the sky, its outline destroyed by pure energy. The Sun dominates the sky, ignites the city's ten lesser suns, and its light even penetrates the constructed world to the lush greenery beneath.
When I think about The Sun, I'd like to remember above all its innocence: its pure life-giving energy reaches everything everywhere all at once. I need it most of all in times of skepticism and doubt and fear to remind me of the power of revealing fire.
inspiration (not dreaming)
straight lines (not loops)
10 x energy (not longing)
just the truth (not judgement)
moving (not still)
